I first picked up a guitar when I was eight. Roll forward to the age of seventeen when I get my first electric guitar. I thought I was Mark Knopfler on steroids back then, turns out I wasn’t. That was getting on for 35 years ago and since getting that electric guitar I’ve set-up and modified not only my own guitars but literally hundreds (maybe even thousands, I’ve lost count in all honesty) of other peoples guitars.
My standards are high. How high? Well, with every setup I ask myself the same question. Would I be happy to walk out on stage in front of an audience and play that guitar? Can I focus on my performance and not have to worry about intonation, string breakage, buzzing, how I sound……the list goes on.
